EXIF/IPTC Info

I am wondering if there is a way to set default information that will be loaded into EXIF/IPTC information when you go to edit it. That way you don't have to enter everything each time you edit the information. It would be like a template that would automatically load into the EXIF/IPTC information if you want it to and then the user could add/alter whatever they want to.

Start-up problems PIE v5.5

I just downloaded and installed PIE v5.5. However I could not get it to open. I run F-Secure and followed the recommendations to turn off Deep-Scan. I went as far as unloading (not an uninstall) F-Secure. Still no start-up. I uninstalled and reinstalled PIE. Still nothing. I remembered I had recently installed an advanced security threat analysis program from PC Tools known as ThreatFire. I suspended it from running and still could not run PIE. As a last attempt to get things going I uninstalled ThreatFire using Revo Uninstaller from Revo Group. That did the trick. As soon as the uninstall was completed, I booted PIE. It opened and allowed me to enter and unlock the software registration. PIE is now running again. Thought I should pass the word in case anyone else is having this problem

Regards.

autorenaming - invludet original filename

I#m using pie to import raw-files from my cf-card in my foto-library-directory - structure before gbs-tagging the files. Pie create the directory (include date) well but since 2 or 3 version the auto-renaming functiont don't include the original-filename in the new filename. The renaming-string is %Y-%M-%D_%H%N%S_<Model>_%* but the '%*'-part dosn't work!

moving picmeta to a new PC

I've upgraded from an old XP machine to a new one with Win7. Should I copy over the contents of the Thumbs folder from ...\Application Data\Picmeta\ or just let the new version build new thumbnails as needed?

Script Errors - PIE

This product worked fine up till today.

Now I get error messages whenever attempting to browse the GPS window or updating GPS data for any file "Could not complete the operation due to error 80020101".

These files still appear to geotag correctly in other products, eg Picasa.

Any ideas?

Sorting Photos

What is the simplest way to sort the order of your photos on your layouts? I find it very difficult to use the Move Forth and Move Back commands when I have many pages of photos on my layout.

reports and windows keywords

Can a report on file properties recurse to include all subdirectories.
The windows 40091.. 40095 title,comment,.. keywords etc ... how to edit and how to include in the report.
Is any functionality lost when the two are put in the one package:
When the side is set up to show iptc properties... If none exist then this then reverts to exif... that good but what about thye other files that have iptc props... the pane remains on exif ???

print stattion

I have downloaded the print station and thought that it could a nice tool for preparing photo reports with comments, numbering e.t.c. everything seems to be ok, except one moment. The main idea when preparing report or photo album is to put them on a list in necessary order ans consequence. however print station puts all together and after it takes a long time by mooving pictures on page layuot forward / back ets. i think it should be more easy if one can directly drag the picture from album and place at necessary place on page layuot or just add. maybe there is more easy way to layout pictures on page ?

Batch processing of jpgs in sub-folders?

How do I process "EXIF Date to File Date" actions on all photos in current and subfolders without manually going to each folder and selecting all and applying the action?
Thanks,

Viewing Help in 5.2 demo

I'm running the 5.2 demo. It's hard to learn from the Help system, because the Help window tends to stay behind the main window. Usually it takes several interactions to bring it to the front - clicking on the Help taskbar button does not bring it to the front.
Anyone else found this? Is there a reliable way around this behaviour?
Thanks ... Ken.

PIE Not Starting

Running WinXP - all of a sudden PIE won't startup! Reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted PC, etc. Any ideas? The last email download I have is from 3/12/09 for 5.0 (although I seem to have a 5.1 download I'm trying to reinstall). Any thoughts?

PIE - Color Encoding / embedded ICC Profile

In PIE, I would like to find out what color encoding an image is tagged with and whether it contains an embedded ICC profile or not. If yes, I would like to be able to see the specs of this ICC profile.

Is this not possible with PIE?

Thanks

Demo versions install but won't execute

With what anti-virus and security suites is thisPicmeta software known to work OK?

Further to my own post of July 14, I found that the demo versions would install on my Vista 64-bit, my Vista 32-bit and my old (shortly to be retired) XP systems but would not execute (at all). The only feature common to all three systems is my Zone Alarm anti-virus and security suite. Since then I have discovered that the Picmeta programs will run OK if I invoke them immediately after initiating the user session, before the secuirty suite has set itself up fully. Once running they will continue to run even after Zone Alarm is fully operating. Therefore my questions are:

1. - Does anyone out there run this Picmeta software with ZoneAlarm? How?
2. - Does Picmeta do something under the covers which ZoneAlarm doesn't like? Is this a potential security exposure? Is this only the demo versions or also the licensed versions?
3. - With which security suites is Picmeta known to run without problems? Norton, Kapersky, McAfee, etc?

PIE and PrintStation look like brilliant peices of software but I don't want to have to restart my user sessions every time I want to use them!

Rotation

I'm running the 5.2 demo. PIE won't rotate my .ARW images. Don't know about others. Rotation is grayed out in the menu unless 2 or more images are selected.

Bug or feature?

suggest : auto-rotate option when viewing

Hi,

When viewing foto,
PIE will always auto-rotate base on orientation sensor,
it will be really useful if there is an option to enable or disable this feature.

Install Printstation demo

It looks as though Print Studio will do exactly what I want so I downloaded the demo version of Printstation to check. It appears to install correctly but will not execute, not from from the "launch ..." after finishing the install, nor from the desktop icon nor from the application module in my f:\programs\picmeta\ directory. Will it only run from the c:\ directory? Will it not run under Vista 64-bit?
I'm still very interested in the combined product but need to know it will do what I want before committing myself. Thanks ..... Jeremy

autorotate with Coolpix 620

Hi;

I just upgraded from a Canon SD1000 to a Nikon Coolpix 620. When PIEStudio imported from the Canon, it automatically rotated photos. With the Nikon it does not. Is that a limitation in the Nikon or in PIE?

command line, and search function

It would be nice if I could make printstation start in differents directories not only the last or a fixed one. For example open a context menu in windows file explorer or in google desktop to browse with printstation. Or if I could run it "c:\printstation\printstation.exe %1" where %1 could be any directory.
Another usefull could be a search function. For now I add the "\" and then the first letters in the file browser address bar with autocomplete feature.
Thanks

Pie Studio 4.5

I recently purchased Pie Studio V4.32. Now I have had a chance to really sit down and get familiar with the menus, tags, and sorting through old photos, printing, etc., I can really say what a great program! I read on your news page about Pie Studio 4.5 which can edit IPTC data. When will the up-dates for this version be available?

Canon 500D / T1i

If you folks need any sample files to get the RAW decoder working for the Canon 500D, let me know. I can shoot some stuff in RAW+JPG and send them over. Looking forward to having it work. Right now PIE shows an image but it's magenta-tinted.

demo question

I just downloaded the demo and am working on some files.I noticed when selecting the 11x17 page size, it still only looks like 8.5 x 11 in the previews. Is this a limitation in the demo or am i doing something wrong?

Unicode Support, Alt-Key Menu Shortcuts

Thank you for the new upgrade. The new graphics look very clean and polished. Two suggestions for future version features you may wish to consider: 1). Alt-Key Menu short-cuts (e.g., Alt-F would open the "File" menu). 2). support for dbcs file names. It seem PIE 4.2 (as well as previous versions) is unable to process graphic files with Chinese or Japanese names. For examle, in thumbnail veiw, the thumbnails do not render. Only after removing the DBCS from the file name does the thumbnail appear. Similarly, if I try to apply Auo Rename to a group of photos with Chinese or Japanese words in the file name, PIE v4.2 is unable to process the auto rename command.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment. I look forward to future developments with PIE.

Cheers
