command line, and search function

It would be nice if I could make printstation start in differents directories not only the last or a fixed one. For example open a context menu in windows file explorer or in google desktop to browse with printstation. Or if I could run it "c:\printstation\printstation.exe %1" where %1 could be any directory.
Another usefull could be a search function. For now I add the "\" and then the first letters in the file browser address bar with autocomplete feature.
Thanks

Pie Studio 4.5

I recently purchased Pie Studio V4.32. Now I have had a chance to really sit down and get familiar with the menus, tags, and sorting through old photos, printing, etc., I can really say what a great program! I read on your news page about Pie Studio 4.5 which can edit IPTC data. When will the up-dates for this version be available?

I have version 2.21F. Can the new version display and extract filename EXIF from MRW (Konica Minolta RAW files).
I use Studio all the time to extract filenames and print photos on 1 page.

Thank you, (Great product!)

Canon 500D / T1i

If you folks need any sample files to get the RAW decoder working for the Canon 500D, let me know. I can shoot some stuff in RAW+JPG and send them over. Looking forward to having it work. Right now PIE shows an image but it's magenta-tinted.

demo question

I just downloaded the demo and am working on some files.I noticed when selecting the 11x17 page size, it still only looks like 8.5 x 11 in the previews. Is this a limitation in the demo or am i doing something wrong?

Shutter Count

Does PIE give shutter count for images (both JPG and RAW) that come from a Canon 40D and a Canon 30D camera?

Unicode Support, Alt-Key Menu Shortcuts

Thank you for the new upgrade. The new graphics look very clean and polished. Two suggestions for future version features you may wish to consider: 1). Alt-Key Menu short-cuts (e.g., Alt-F would open the "File" menu). 2). support for dbcs file names. It seem PIE 4.2 (as well as previous versions) is unable to process graphic files with Chinese or Japanese names. For examle, in thumbnail veiw, the thumbnails do not render. Only after removing the DBCS from the file name does the thumbnail appear. Similarly, if I try to apply Auo Rename to a group of photos with Chinese or Japanese words in the file name, PIE v4.2 is unable to process the auto rename command.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment. I look forward to future developments with PIE.

Cheers

Using mouse wheel to scroll through pictures

PIE wraps to the top when viewing pictures full screen. Is there anyway to have it stop at bottom of picture list after viewing all pictures

Creating Thumbnails

Is there any way to get Pie Studio to build all the thumbnails for a directory without having to browse the entire folder? Other programs have a separate function to scan folder trees and build thumbnails which are then cached for future use. I'd like to know if this can be done today in Pie Studio?

Changing foreground/background colors in directory and file list windows

I just purchased PIE4.7. It is different from the trial version in that the directory and file list windows have black backgrounds. Filename mouse-over in the file list window turns the file name text blue, which is extremely hard to read. Is it possible to change the foreground/background colors?

Wrapping photo captions to multiple lines

My photos often have long file names. When using the /f macro to print the captions the names usually extend beyond the borders of the picture and overlap with the captions on either side.

Is there a setting to wrap captions onto multiple lines instead of having them extend past the picture borders?

Will there be a Video Information Extractor?

I want to have a tool that can display information on different video format. Normally this would be seen in a video player, but it's not complete in one player and it is inconvenient.

I can only move selected files, not copy them?

I want to copy selected files from one folder to another but PIE has no right click drag or copy. All it does is move stuff. I have to move stuff, then use windows explorer to copy the moved files back to the original directory. Lame.

Using different EXIF date/time fields

I had a large number of 35mm slides scanned. I then went through with Adobe Elements and updated the date/time for each one to when it was originally taken. I was hoping to use PIE to rename them according to their EXIF dates. However, PIE shows (No EXIF date/time) for these JPG's. When I look at all the EXIF fields in PIE however I see that the dates I set are in the "Date and Time (Original)" and "Date and Time (Digitized)" fields. Is there a way to get PIE to use those?

.mov files

When I open a folder that has a .mov as the first file, the program hangs and I am forced to kill it. The same thing happens if I select a .mov file by mistake.
Is there a way to disable displaying mov/avi or other video files in the file list?
Thanks...

Using PIE to order photos prior to printing on HP7400 Office Jet

Trying to revise my system of downloading .jpgs from two cameras and web sites, then composing them into a logically (not time) ordered series for printing and slideshow. I can order for slideshow (TIVO) just fine by batchconverting with an automatic naming. However, I;ve been driven nuts trying to get my HP Series 7400 Office Jet to print in a predefined order.

Based on the post by John Lam May 4 and response I've tried using PIE to establish new create date/times (IS THERE ANYWAY TO DO THIS IN A BATCH MODE??? very timeconsuming to do it one by one as per the reply to John Lam). While this is helpful for my batch renamer. My file names are in logical order and can be displayed by file name order, but it does nothing for the printer order which is not by create date, modify date, file name, or any other file attribute I can see.. ANY SUGGESTIONS HOW TO GET THE PRINTER TO PRINT IN A PREDEFINED SEQUENCE???

Despite continuing problems, PIE works great and will be a 'Keeper".

tks daver

What .album & .dat files can I safely delete to free up space?

Hi,

PIE is part of my picture workflow (for moving files from my camera, renaming, rotating, removing), but then I use other applications. I see a series of .album files and a large (> 1 Gig) thumbs.dat file and I'm hoping I can safely delete these files in order to free up disk space?

Thank you,
David

GEO Tagging?

Hi,

I purchased a GPS datalogger, and I thought it would be great if PIE could GEO tag the jpgs.

Just a thought.

Error trying to redate a file.

Hi, when I try to redate a file using the EXIF metadata, I get the following results:

Redating pictures...
Could not redate Dad_FBI_4x6.jpg!
Completed.

The EXIF date on this file is Dec 30 1979 @12:26 am.

Is there a limit on the date range where a file can be redated?
